『depoliva』is a brand name of our company.
The meaning of 「dep」is meaning a beautiful thing in the Vietnamese.
「oliva(olive)」 is Italian.The olive is considered as the symbol of peace all over the world.
It is the original brand named by the concept which tries to propose the good thing of a beautiful Japanese tradition so that it may be loved all over the world like an olive.

The feature of this "depoliva."The traditional culture and the material which was excellent in the craftsmanship "Japan" which it is proud of in the world were chosen.
Moreover, a theme is "made in Japan."The craftsman is scrupulous and is making.

・What’s sakiori? 裂き織りとは？

古布を細長く手で裂いて横糸にし、麻・木綿糸を縦糸にして織った厚手の織物。
江戸時代中期寒冷な気候のため綿や絹などの繊維製品が貴重だった東北地方にその端緒を見る。
当時は日常生活に用いる衣類や布団などの布を、主に大麻の葉を裂いて細く繊維状にし、紙縒りのようにして織り上げた。これらが裂織の起源とされる。寒さに耐えるためこれらの麻布は重ねて刺し子にしたりもしている。


『depoliva』で使用されている裂き織りは、1本ずつ古布を手で裂いて染め上げた糸や絹糸を使用して、職人による丁寧な手作業により手間ひま掛けて織りあげたこだわりの裂き織りを使用しています。

Once upon a time, the start is seen to the Tohoku district whose textiles, such as cotton and silk, were precious for chill climate.
The leaf of cloth, such as clothing, and bedding, etc. which are used for everyday life, or a hemp was torn thinly, and it was made the fiber type.And it carried out like a paper twist and finished weaving.These are made into the origin of 「SAKIORI」
In order to bear cold, these Azabu is piled up and it is made quilting.

「SAKIORI」currently used by "depoliva" is using thread and silk thread which tore old cloth by hand and were dyed.A craftsman performs polite manual labor.
Choice 「SAKIORI」which imposed, wove and raised time and effort is used.

・Suruga-sakiori(Kambaraori 蒲原織り）

駿河裂き織りの特徴は、まず古布を丁寧に1本1本手で裂いていきます。
手で裂いていく理由は、繊維を切らずに毛糸が立ち織った後の裂き織りの柔らかさが生み出す為。
この古布を裂く作業も一見単調な作業に思われますが、一般的には1本約1cm程度に裂いていくところをこの駿河裂き織りでは1本5mmにまで細かく丁寧に裂いていくので、この作業だけでも膨大な時間を要します。

次に温暖な気候と駿河湾から吹いてくる潮風を利用し染め上げる作業に入ります。しかし、染めの作業も晴れていても湿度の高い日では染めても風味のある藍色には染まらない為、晴天で湿度の低い日のみでしか染めることができません。場合によっては何日も染めの作業が出来ない日もあったりします。
ただ、この晴天かつ湿度の低い気候こそ、この駿河湾に面した蒲原の気候そのものなのです。染めの作業工程では、ただ同じ藍色を染めるのではなく、染める回数や染め具合で濃淡に変化をつけ、絶妙な色や繊細なコントラストを作り上げていきます。染め上がった糸でも色合いや色落ちの確認をし、場合によっては再度染めの作業を行います。ようやく糸の出来上がりです。

次に織る準備へと入ります。まず織る前に糸掛けの作業となるのですが、この作業も横糸に約300本、縦糸にも約300本の糸を織り機に掛け丸一日を要します。ここでようやく織る作業が始まるのですが、駿河裂織では1cmに10本の糸を使用して織るというとても細かな織り方をしていきます。

裂き織りが誕生するまでにとても多くの時間を要して丁寧に作り上げていくのが蒲原に古くから伝わる駿河裂織。素朴で柔らかな独自の風合いが魅力です。
